Let us remind you that in the second half of December 2023, the organizers Audioriver announced that after 17 years the event is moving from Płock to Łódź. Previously, on the beach on the Vistula River, you could see the world’s most famous representatives of house, techno and drum & bass, as well as global stars of electronics bordering on pop, rock and hip hop.
This year’s edition was to be held at Park na Zdrowiu in Łódź on July 12-14. “It will consist of a musical part presenting the spectrum of electronic music genres and an extensive daily program full of meetings and workshops on social issues,” the organizers announced.
Residents and activists gathered under the banner protested against the new location Green Heart of Health. They appealed for moving the event to another place, emphasizing that they were not against the festival. The petition was signed by over 12,000 people.
Ultimately, the protesters achieved their goal and the mayor of Łódź, Hanna Zdanowska did not consent to the event being organized in Park na Zdrowie.
“I do not consent to the organization Audioriver Festival in the Park named after Piłsudskiego (this is the official name of Park na Zdrowiu). We want the Audioriver Festival to take place in Łódź – it is a development opportunity for the city, an unquestionable brand and a fantastic musical event. In the case of Park na Zdrowiu, however, we have reached the point where we would be organizing this event against the will of some residents of Łódź, and instead of a joyful music festival, we would have a celebration in the shadow of protests,” we read.
The organizers also published their statement, revealing that they were changing the location of Audioriver, but would remain in Łódź. “It was not an easy decision for us,” we read. “The festival is supposed to unite, not divide. We want everyone to feel as good as possible during it,” they emphasized.
While looking for a new place, Audioriver suspended ticket sales for the festival. It took a month to finalize the new location. Ultimately, the organizers announced that it would take place on Łódź Błonia.
“The organizers of Audioriver announce that they will keep the festival formula in the well-known form and build classic scenes related to the event in a new place,” we read.
At the same time, new performers who will appear in Łódź were announced. The festival line-up includes: Andromedik, Brina Knauss, Daria Kolosova b2b Sept, Desiree, DJ Gigola, Dyzen, Eli Brown, Fever Ray, Gentlemens Club, Gorgon City, HI-LO, Kiasmos live, Ki/Ki live, Kölsch live, Mall Grab, Mefjus, Stephan Bodzin live and VTSS.
