Tourist guitar from Korea. You can pack it in a backpack because it weighs little

I am a lover of instruments, especially plucked ones – for example. And it has hardly changed at all over the years. Despite the passage of subsequent decades, we are still dealing with an almost identical construction. Even a glance at electric models from the 1950s makes us realize that

Isn’t it time for a change? Not necessarily, after all, better is the enemy of good, and the classic and iconic design still serves its purpose. However, we can modulate it in some way to make it not only more personalized, but also more responsive to our unique needs. And this is the product for us, which has created a series of smart guitars. Are they really that smart? Definitely yes.

At the stand of a South Korean company, I noticed a set of instruments that, on the one hand, looked like guitars, but on the other hand, were quite different from them. Strings? They are there, and so is the griffin. There were even keys and pickups. However, they were somewhat deficient. They had no body, only its outline, additionally they were divided into two parts and were surprisingly light.

It turned out that these are modular travel guitars which, on the one hand, have all the features of a full-fledged instrument, and on the other hand, they are enriched with a whole lot of useful gadgets. The first advantage praised at the stand was portability. After finishing the game, separate the shorter neck from the body and disconnect the elements giving it its shape. We can pack everything into a small bag that can be easily taken on the plane – without incurring additional baggage fees.

And how does it sound if there is no solid wood and there is basically nothing to resonate with? This is due to the attached loudspeaker, which somehow fits into the fancy shape of the instrument. We will find it in the lower part, right behind the bridge, where the strings are attached. , and this depends on the type of instrument we have. We can choose electric, acoustic and classic versions. There is nothing stopping you from using e.g. guitar effects.

Therefore, we are talking about a fully functional instrument that . But is it good? You can play on it, it’s pleasant, and the sound from the speaker comes out just like from an amplifier – without delay. I didn’t hear any distortion, although maybe the whole thing was a bit too flat. However, this can be adjusted with one of several knobs. There is also a looper that will be useful when overdubbing to background music. In short, there is nothing missing in it.

If you would like to buy this product with a new musical passion in mind, I advise you to refrain. Although the Mogabi guitar is missing pieces of wood, its price is full and even high. The standard model is about $1,000, some can be found a bit cheaper. With this money we can easily buy a professional electric guitar from a reputable brand, which will increase in price in a few years.

Who is this equipment for? For musicians and gadget lovers, just like other products of this type. Having something like this is great fun, but it is definitely not a proposition for people who would just like to start their adventure with playing the guitar. I had a great time with it, but now I’m going back to my Aria FA-80 and enjoying the classic design.
