The Swedish actress recently delighted in… “Dune”, but it wasn’t her first big role in Hollywood. She first gained attention when she appeared alongside Tom Cruise in a film “Mission: Impossible – Rogue”. Then there were productions such as “Divine Florence”, “The king of entertainment” and “Doctor Sleep”. She is considered the most promising Swedish actress since the legendary Ingrid Bergman.
She started her career at the age of 15, winning the main role in the series “Nya Tider”. Other films with the participation of the actress include the main role in “En Enkel Till Antibes” Richard Hoberts, who won the audience award at the European Union Film Festival 2012 in Toronto. In the same year, the actress was named a Rising Star in Sweden. She first attracted the attention of audiences around the world when she played the title role of Elizabeth Woodville in the series “The white queen”. She was nominated for a Golden Globe for her performance.
She also starred in a movie “Divine Florence” Stephen Frears, partnering Meryl Streep and Hugh Grant. In the film “The king of entertainment” Ferguson played the role of Swedish-born Jenny Lind – one of the first international stars, admired all over the world for her masterful soprano. “I imagine working with Rebecca is like working with Rita Hayworth. She is a temptress like the movie stars of the golden era of Hollywood. She was as electrifying as Jenny Lind probably must have been” – the film’s director praised the actress.
The actress is currently promoting the second part “Dunes”. “I remember there was a moment when this person didn’t feel very comfortable and reacted with anger because he wasn’t able to play properly. And I felt so defenseless that she screamed at me. And since this person was at the top of the cast, there was no security for me. No one supported me, and I cried while leaving the set” – Rebecca Ferguson recalls in the podcast “Reign with Josh Smith”.
The 40-year-old Swedish woman did not reveal which actor or actress she might be talking about. However, she emphasized that she was not talking about Tom Cruise, with whom she starred in the series “Mission: Impossible”or Hugh Jackman, who was her partner in the film “The king of entertainment”.
“This person said harsh things to me. ‘And you call yourself an actress?!’, ‘I have to work with someone like that?!’ The whole crew listened to it. I stood there and was close to breaking down. I was afraid of confrontation, but the next day I found the strength. I looked at this person and said, ‘You can f**k off!’ I’ll play looking at the tennis ball, and I never want to see you again!’ I remember the producers approached me and said I couldn’t talk to the star like that. They weren’t going to send her off the set” – the actress continues.
Ferguson didn’t give up. She said she would play with her but would look at the back of her head. “And so I did. I don’t think it should be played this way. Afterwards, I went to talk to the director. He admitted that I was right. He promised to get rid of this person because, in his opinion, he was unbalanced. It was a great moment for me, but it took me a while to get around to it” – ends the star “Dunes”.
