Maisie Williams she made her debut in 2011 and since then her career has only been gaining momentum. Appearance in popular “Game of Thrones” it turned out to be a springboard for further development.
The actress played the role of the younger daughter of the Stark family, when she was only 12 years old. On the set, she gained her first experience working in the production of a series, and it was quite a challenge for such a young person. The series’ Arya Stark survived a lot of horrors, saw a lot of cruelty, but thanks to it she became serious and mature – just like Williams.
Unlike several other Game of Thrones stars her career did not slow down after the series ended. She appeared in “Doctor Who”the TV movie “Cyberblackmail”, or “New Mutants”in which she played the role of Wolfsbane – one of the young mutants locked in a secret facility.
The latest Apple TV+ production may give it even more publicity.
“New style” will be based on real events a historical drama taking place during World War II in Nazi-occupied Paris, telling the story of Christian Dior – one of the most famous French fashion designers. The main role will be played by Ben Mendelsohn (“The Dark Knight Rises”). The story of Dior is intertwined with stories from other famous fashion houses: Chanel, Pierre Balmain, Balenciaga and several others.
What attracts attention in the new production is the fact that no expense was spared. What attracts attention is the opening credits, the set designs and, above all, the star cast, including, of course, Maisie Williams.
A young actress in this production will play the role of Catherine Dior — the youngest sister of the founder of the famous fashion house. This character is definitely one of the more interesting ones. Catherine was involved in the resistance movement during the war, and in 1944 she was arrested, tortured and deported to the Ravensbrück camp. The traumatic experiences changed her so much that after the end of the war and her return to Paris, her brother did not recognize her. She never spoke about her traumatic experiences, with the exception of the situation when she was a witness in a court hearing in 1952. Over the next few years, she took care of her beloved flowers. She died in 2008.
Maisie Williams had to risk her health for this role. Under the supervision of doctors, she lost 10 kg.
“I had to get up at 4 a.m. to start sweating. The evening before, I could eat something salty and dehydrating. Then I took a bath in boiling water with a lot of salt. I levitated towards the bed, by sleep maybe 3 hours, and then I only had a handful of nuts for breakfast“- she said in one of the interviews.
The first three episodes of the series “Nowy Styl” are now available on the Apple TV+ platform. The next ones will appear every week, and the final one, The tenth episode will debut on April 3, 2024.
