“Jason Derula is an American artist who creatively combines elements of pop, hip-hop and r’n’b in his work, creating his own unique style that is difficult to pigeonhole,” we read in the announcement. Derulo is also a true social media phenomenon – in total, he is followed on all platforms by over 150 million people.
Born in 1989, the singer and dancer, choreographer, music producer and songwriter is currently one of the most recognizable names on the world music scene. He started performing first when he was only five years old, and three years later he wrote his first song, “Crush on You”. He studied at The American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York. He was then discovered by the influential producer JR Rotem, who offered him cooperation with Warner Music Group. A milestone in the development of Jason Derulo’s career was 2009, when he released the single “Whatcha Say” reached the first place on the prestigious American Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Including the latest album, the artist has released five studio albums and over 20 singles. On February 16, 2024, the premiere of his latest album, awaited for almost a decade, took place – “NuKing”. The album contains as many as 27 songs. Derulo invited many renowned artists to produce the new album. They include names such as: Michael Bublé, Meghan Trainor, Nicki Minaj or the singer of the band Maroon 5 Adam Levine.
“‘Nu King’ is the culmination of my career so far. It’s been nine years since my last full-length album and a lot has happened. But I never stopped making music. Many of these songs didn’t have a home, so I made room for them. Newer songs they simply reflect my life at the moment. The whole thing has a truly cinematic atmosphere,” says Jason Derulo.
One of the biggest hits in Jason Derulo’s career is the single released in 2020 “Savage Love”which topped the charts in 16 countries, including again the first place on the American Billboard Hot 100. Jason Derulo’s star status was consolidated by his other great hits, such as: “Swalla”, “Wiggle”, “Talk Dirty”, “Love Not War”, “Acapulco”, “Want to Want Me” Whether “Take You Dancing”.
Derulo emphasizes in many interviews that his passion, apart from singing, is dancing, theater and social media. His Instagram profile is followed by almost 30 million people, and on Tik-Tok he has over 1.3 billion likes and almost 60 million followers, which makes him one of the most popular TikTokers in the world.
