Independent Spirit awards handed out. “A Previous Life” is the best film

The awards in film categories were distributed among most of the nominees. It received the most statuettes “Winter Solstice” Alexander Pyne — for supporting role (Da’Vine Joy Randolph), acting debut (Dominic Sessa) and photos. “Past Life” Apart from winning the best film award, it also won in the director category.

It also received two statuettes “American Fiction” Cord Jefferson — for the leading role (Jeffrey Wright) and the script. The remaining films won in one category. The best first film was awarded to AV Rockwell’s “The Thousand and One”. The award for the debut screenplay was “Obsessed” by Todd Haynes.

The best documentary was “Four Daughters” by Kaouther Ben Hania, and the international film – “Anatomy of a Fall” Justine Triet. “How to Blow Up a Pipeline” by Daniel Goldhaber was honored for editing.

The big losers of the evening included “Good Strangers” by Andrew Haigh and “The Passings” by Ira Sachs.

“Awantura” and “The Last of Us” triumphed in the TV categories. The first of these was recognized as the best fiction series. Ali Wong, who played the lead role, was also honored. “The Last of Us” won in the categories “supporting role” (Nick Offerman) and “breakthrough role” (Keivonn Montreal Woodard). The actors from the sitcom “Jury Duty” were recognized as the best cast.

The ceremony was hosted by comedian Aidy Bryant.
