Ernest Bryll (check!) died on March 16 at the age of 89.
“The funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, March 25, 2024, at 1:30 p.m. in the Dominican Fathers’ Church (ul. Dominikańska 2), followed by a walk to the family grave at the cemetery at ul. Wałbrzyska” – it was reported in the poet’s obituary, signed by his wife and daughters.
Ernest Bryll he started writing song lyrics in the mid-1960s. His work was used by almost all the leaders of the Polish entertainment scene at that time – including: Czesław Niemen, Maryla Rodowicz, Marek Grechuta, Skaldowie, Halina Frąckowiak, Jerzy Połomski, Michał Bajor, Krystyna Prońko, 2 plus 1, Stan Borys, Halina Kunicka, Łucja Prus, Urszula Sipińska, Danuta Rinn and Andrzej Rybiński.
He wrote many lyrics to music by Katarzyna Gärtner. The spectacle was their joint work “Painted on glass”. The song was commissioned by the Musical Theater in Wrocław and had its premiere there in 1970.

“I never wrote song lyrics specifically, because when I started writing them, they always sucked,” Bryll said. “One composer once told me: don’t write songs, don’t think about it; write poems and let us, musicians, ruminate in them,” he explained.
