Ernest Bryll he started writing song lyrics in the mid-1960s. “I wanted to escape into the land of fun, to offer the audience a wander through a fairy-tale and legendary country…” wrote Ernest Bryll about the genesis of this piece.

The most popular songs with lyrics by Ernest Bryll include: “Mountains, Clouds, Valleys” (Jerzy Grunwald), “Hej, baby, baby” (Edward Hulewicz), “Kolibajka” (Maryla Rodowicz), “Mother’s Lullaby” and “The Bullet Couldn’t Hit Him” (2 plus 1), ” I say goodbye to my love” (Jerzy Połomski), “In the hay” (Halina Frąckowiak), “Pieśń Kronika” (Marek Grechuta), “In the mountains, in the clouds” (Skaldowie), “Psalm of those standing in line” (Krystyna Prońko) , “I’m calling you with a cry” (Urszula Sipińska), “Peggy Brown” (Myslovitz), “All cats in the night are black” (Anna Jantar) and “And these wings are broken” (Danuta Rinn).

“I never wrote song lyrics specifically, because when I started writing them, they always sucked,” Bryll said. “One composer once told me: don’t write songs, don’t think about it; write poems and let us, musicians, ruminate in them,” he explained.
