Five Polish crime series similar to “Rojsta”

Series “Beak” debuted in 2016 and became a huge hit in terms of viewership. Poles love dark crime series with detective puzzles. The main character is a Polish teacher, Paweł Zawadzki (Maciej Stuhr), which appears in the wrong place and at the wrong time. Unsolved criminal cases do not leave him, and he himself takes on the role of a detective.

A newly retired postman from a small town, Mietek Zasada (Robert Więckiewicz), must take care of the burial of his friend Czesław (Mirosław Zbrojewicz) on his own when the only funeral home in the area refuses to perform the service. Unaware of the obstacles and absurdities of the funeral business, he starts his own company and is soon forced to balance on the border between legal regulations and moral principles. He quickly comes into conflict with a local industry tycoon (Piotr Rogucki), and he can count on support only from the eccentric daughter of his deceased friend (Karolina Bruchnicka) and his disabled wife (Aleksandra Konieczna).

Deep in the forest” covers two time dimensions: 1994 and 2019. The story in a surprising way presents the fate of a Warsaw prosecutor, Paweł Kopiński, who, despite the passage of years, cannot recover from the loss of his beloved sister, who disappeared in mysterious circumstances during a summer camp.

The unexpected discovery of a body whose death seems to be linked to the girl’s disappearance may finally lead to a breakthrough in the investigation. The police suspect that the victim is a boy who disappeared without a trace together with Paweł’s sister 25 years ago.

When the Wejman family’s daughter (Arkadiusz Jakubik, Maja Ostaszewska) dies in unexplained circumstances, uncertainty and fear paralyze the family step by step. The father, an ordinary man in extraordinary circumstances, begins a lonely fight for the truth, which he believes will lead him to find his child. The driving force behind his actions is hope, the metaphor of which is the title “Klangor“.

Żmijowisko” tells the story of a group of thirty-something college friends who go on vacation with their children to the titular summer resort. One evening, during an alcohol-fueled party, 15-year-old Ada, daughter of Arek and Kamila, disappears. An extensive search begins, but the girl cannot be found. A year later, her father returns to the site of the tragedy to resume the search.
