A newly retired postman from a small town, Mietek Zasada (Robert Więckiewicz), must take care of the burial of his friend Czesław (Mirosław Zbrojewicz) on his own when the only funeral home in the area refuses to perform the service. Unaware of the obstacles and absurdities of the funeral business, he starts his own company and is soon forced to balance on the border between legal regulations and moral principles. He quickly comes into conflict with a local industry tycoon (Piotr Rogucki), and he can count on support only from the eccentric daughter of his deceased friend (Karolina Bruchnicka) and his disabled wife (Aleksandra Konieczna).

“Deep in the forest” covers two time dimensions: 1994 and 2019. The unexpected discovery of a body whose death seems to be linked to the girl’s disappearance may finally lead to a breakthrough in the investigation. The police suspect that the victim is a boy who disappeared without a trace together with Paweł’s sister 25 years ago.

“Żmijowisko” tells the story of a group of thirty-something college friends who go on vacation with their children to the titular summer resort. One evening, during an alcohol-fueled party, 15-year-old Ada, daughter of Arek and Kamila, disappears. An extensive search begins, but the girl cannot be found. A year later, her father returns to the site of the tragedy to resume the search.
