Depeche Mode already in Łódź. Hourly schedule of concerts in Poland

Group Depeche Mode (listen!) is on its first tour since the death of the longtime member Andy Fletcher. For some time it was unknown whether they would return to playing, but since then their album “Memento Mori” has been released. They also announced a huge global tour, which was originally supposed to have two stops in Poland: August 2, 2023 in Warsaw and August 4, 2023 in Krakow.

It was announced that the “Memento Mori” tour would last longer than originally expected. After stadium and hall concerts in Europe, Canada, the USA and Mexico, the band’s musicians do not give up and announce the expansion of their concert plans.

The European part of the tour, starting in London at the end of January 2024, includes nearly 30 performances. The next two will take place at the Atlas Arena in Łódź – on February 27 and 29. The last tickets are still on sale. The British reached Poland by plane from Prague.

The repertoire of recent concerts is based on the albums “Memento Mori”, “Violator”, “Music for the Masses”, “Playing the Angel” and “Songs of Faith and Devotion”. There is no shortage of hits such as: “Policy of Truth”, “I Feel You”, “Stripped”, “Enjoy the Silence”, “Never Let Me Down” and “Personal Jesus”.

Speaking about ‘Memento Mori’, Martin Gore commented: “We started working on this project at the beginning of the pandemic, and its themes were directly inspired by that time. After Fletch’s departure, we decided to continue because we are sure this is what he would have wanted, and the project has become even more of greater importance.”

Dave Gahan added: “Fletch would love this album. We really can’t wait to share it with you and perform it live at shows next year.”

Andy Fletcher he has been professionally active since 1977. Then he and a school friend started Vince Clark group No Romance. Three years later he met Martin Gorewho joined the band – it was renamed a trio Composition of Sound. He then joined them Dave Gahan, at whose suggestion they adopted the name Depeche Mode. At the end of 1981, shortly after the release of their debut album “Speak & Spell” Clarke left his friends.

The next album was almost entirely composed by Martin Gore. In 1982 he joined them Alan Wilder – from then on, Depeche Mode operated as a quartet until 1995. The band later officially performed as a trio, and their discography ended with an album “Spirit” (check!) from 2017.

Andy Fletcher: My role is to stand back

It was often noted that Fletcher had an extraordinary ability to calm down disputes within the team – he was the link between Gahan and Gore.

In Poland, the Depeche Mode group has been extremely popular almost from the very beginning – they played in our country for the first time on July 30, 1985. This was the beginning of the subculture of telegraphers on the Vistula River. Over the course of their 40-year career, they have returned to us many times.
