Daisy Ridley: She starred in Star Wars and disappeared?

When in 2015 Daisy Ridley was cast as Rey in the film “Star Wars: The Force Awakens”, suddenly turned from a young, little-known actress working in Great Britain into a world-famous star. Later she appeared in “The Last Jedi” and in “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” directed by JJ Abrams.

The role in “Star Wars” was undoubtedly a milestone in the actress’s career. In one of the interviews, she admitted that participation in the production dramatically changed her life and influenced her self-esteem. “I’m learning to like myself. I’m starting to feel like I’m where I should be. Working with people helped me, they made me feel good and safe on set. I feel like I can do my job to the best of my ability.” She added that becoming a Hollywood star was never her ambition.

The actress recently attended the SXSW festival. During one of the interviews, she admitted that the popularity of the new trilogy did not translate into professional offers. “There weren’t many offers. It’s not that there weren’t any… I remember when I finished and thought, ‘Oh, so quiet and strange.'”

The premiere of the last part of the saga took place in December 2019. A few months later, the film industry was paralyzed by the pandemic, which did not fill Ridley with optimism. “So it’s been a very strange time to sit in silence and, honestly, mourn a certain period of my life,” she added.

Currently, the 31-year-old actress cannot complain about the lack of offers. At the beginning of March, the film “Sometimes I Think About Dying” had its premiere, in which she played the main role. Despite the depressing title, there is a lot of warmth, a subtle sense of humor and empathy. An interesting genre hybrid, Fran’s story is a reflective story about overcoming social phobias and trying to cope with one’s own limitations.

It is also known that she will return to the role of Rey in the new “Star Wars” film. The new film will take place 15 years after the events of episode IX. It will focus on Rey’s attempts to rebuild the Jedi Order. Directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy. He’s working on the script StevenKnight.
