In the film “Argylle – The Secret Spy” Bryce Dallas Howard she played the role of Elly Conway, a lonely author of best-selling spy novels, for whom the ideal is an evening at home with the computer and her cat Alfie. But when the plot of Elly's fictional books – which focus on secret agent Argylle and his mission to unravel a global spy syndicate – begins to mirror the activities of a real spy organization, quiet evenings at home become a thing of the past.
Accompanied by Aiden, a spy allergic to cats, Elly (carrying Alfie in her backpack) races around the world to stay one step ahead of the killers. The line between Elly's fictional world and the real one begins to blur.
He directed the film Matthew Vaughn, author of such productions as “The Layer”, “Stardust”, “Kick-Ass”, “X-Men: First Class” and the “Kingsman” series. The author of the script is Jason Fuchs (“Wonder Woman”).
The star cast of the production was impressive. In addition to Bryce Dallas Howard, it included, among others: Henry Cavill, Samuel L. Jackson, Catherine O'Hara, Bryan Cranston, John Cena, Ariana DeBose, Sam Rockwell and music icon Dua Lipa. It was her acting debut.
“Argylle – The Secret Spy” did not do very well in cinemas. With a budget of as much as two hundred million dollars, it earned less than one hundred million. Hence the decision to present it to viewers on TV sooner.
The film is now available on VOD. For PLN 49.99 we can rent it on the Premiery Canal+ and Rakuten platforms. In turn, it will be available on Apple TV+ from April 18.
