After his sudden death, fans and friends had to face a huge shock – no one expected that such a young artist, who was still on a cabaret tour, would pass away. The actor was 54 years old.
Three days earlier, Respondek had a heart attack. “Myocardial infarction. Quite unexpectedly. We played a party together three days ago. He was in full strength, joking as always, a normal Krzysiek. And a heart attack at night. They took him to a hospital in Zabrze. They fought for his life for three days” – wrote his friend, Krzysztof Hanke.
On December 30, 2023, the artist was buried at the cemetery in Tarnowskie Góry. During the ceremony, his family, friends and fans said goodbye to him. What words can you say goodbye to a friend? We traveled around the world together for 25 years, hundreds of kilometers, thousands of performances. I felt a great bond with Krzysiek. I guess I’ll always be looking to my left, seeing if you’ll come out from behind the scenes. It was a great honor to stand on stage next to such a great artist as you” – Hanke said then.
After the funeral, the legend of Polish cabaret suspended his activities. As it turns out, Kabaret Rak will go on tour again with a changed lineup. Respondek’s place was taken by Andrzej Kozłowski, a cabaret artist known, among others, With Kabaret pod Wyrwigroszembut also Rafał Kmita’s group or program “Your face sounds familiar”.
Rak’s first concert with Kozłowski will take place in Ruda Śląska. Meanwhile, Hanke informed fans that “life must go on”.
“We will never come to terms with Krzyś Respondek’s departure, but life goes on and our cabaret must continue because it is valuable and was also valuable to Krzyś. Andrzej Kozłowski, my new cabaret partner, will support me and bring a lot of positive energy to our joint program. We invite you to the performances of the RAK cabaret” – he wrote on the official website.
On his Facebook account he only added: “Well… We keep going. Krzysiu. Support us”. Fans of the cabaret artist also showed their support in the comments. “Krzysiu will be cheering for you”; “Bomb. Good luck”; “Not only Krzysiek supports you” – they write.
Coming from Tarnowskie Góry Respondek In 1992, he graduated from the Acting Department of the State Drama School in Wrocław. He played in several performances, including: “Traces” (1993) directed by Józef Szajna, “Fiddler on the Roof” (1993) directed by Marcel Kochańczyk i “Fame” (1997) directed by Wojciech Kępczyński.
In the spring of 2008, he won the third edition of the Polsat program “How they sing”. Just over a year later, he also won the sixth edition of this show considered as “masterful” – participants of previous editions took part in it. In 2011 he won at Russian Song Festival in Zielona Góra (won the Golden Samovar for performing the song “Bereg Rossii”). In April 2013, his only studio album was released – “This is the world I buy”which, apart from the premiere songs written primarily by Aleksander Woźniak, also includes the above-mentioned song “Bereg Rossii”.
In the fall of 2015, he took part in the fourth edition of the program “your face sounds familiar” – he took the last, eighth place in the Polsat show. He played, among others, Paul McCartney, Jan Kiepura, Marek Grechuta, Elżbieta Dmoch (Two Plus One), Andrzej Zaucha Whether Ryszard Riedel from Group Jam.
