“Waiting a source of suffering”. Metalists from Italy do not like to repeat themselves

Fourth album Messa (owned by Mass) produced in full Maurizio “Icio” Baggio. Cover “The Spin” designed Nico Vascellari. In the song “The dress” He played on a trumpet guest Michele Tedescoand in the composition “Fire on the Roof” Andrea Mantionekeyboard player Nuovo will.

Messa: “The Spin” – deep into the 1980s.

“When we recorded ‘Close’ (previous album from 2022), we all wanted to be together in one place. This time we did the opposite. We registered a new album in three different places and periods. To get coherence from beginning to end, we have repeatedly changed the arrangements of the same musical material. We also wanted the songs to work in the most basic structure, while avoiding too much repetition. We used a simple rule: if you hear the same thing twice, that’s enough. Three times? It begins to get boring ” – the recording process” The Spin “brings the Italian quartet closer.

The eclectic style of playing Italian Metal Doom alchemists, as the famous Metal Blade Records defines its new pupils, is not limited to the aforementioned genre, reaching for jazz and blues, film and progressive music, ambient, punk and even black metal. The sound of “The Spin” was enriched with another element – the original Gothic rock from the 1980s. Among the inspirations that influenced the shape of a new achievement, the team mentions primarily the albums Sisters of Mercy and Virgin Prunesas well as such names and surnames as Killing Joke, Mercyful Fate, Jimmy Page, Journey, The Sound, Boy Harsher and Vangelis.

“We don’t like to repeat ourselves and we are constantly looking for new means of expression, while maintaining our own identity. This time we entered areas that we have never visited before, i.e. the 1980s. We realize that many teams were inspired by this decade, but we decided to act Naturally, and get carried away, mainly because we are strongly involved in it and question our actions. The inspiration was rather early Gothic and Dark Wave rock, not later emanations of these species, “the Italians pointed out.

The fourth longplay messa pilots a single “At Races” – a nod to the iconic British band Coleman’s Jaza and Paul Ferguson.

“This song tells about the pressure we feel from the outside. Waiting is often a source of suffering, the burden that other people put on our shoulders. This composition was born of our worship for a sound language Killing Jokeand the sound of guitars and synthesizers refers to their achievements from the 1980s ” – specifies a group from northern Italy, in which, with a microphone, it is dressed up in an elegant voice Sara Bianchin.

A music video was shot for the single “At Race”, which you can see below:

“The Spin”, which premiered on April 11, will be Messa’s first album in the colors of Metal Blade Records. The material will be available in the CD in digipack, vinyl and digitally.

The Italian formation, which celebrated her 10th birthday last year, was better known in 2016 thanks to the debut album “Beaks”giving rise to an eclectic sound, which the band himself describes as “Scarlet Doom”. Two years later he saw the light of day “Feast for water”the second longplay, which – like the debut – was released by the Italian Aural Music.

Their third album also met with considerable recognition among fans and critics “Close”which in 2022 the Finnish Svart Records has already taken care of. The growing interest in the phenomenal sound of Messa did not escape the attention of the famous American Metal Blade Records, which in mid -October 2024 signed a contract with a quartet from the Apennine Peninsula.

Messa’s composition is made up of the drummer from the very beginning Rocco Toaldoplaying guitar and bass Marco Zaninguitarist leading Alberto Piccolo and a singer Sara Bianchin.
