“Vaiana 2”: There is a trailer for the sequel to the cult animation. When is the premiere?

The heroine of the film “Vaiana: Treasure of the Ocean” was the titular brave teenager who undertook a dangerous mission to save her home island. Together with the once powerful demigod named Maui, they set off on an adventure-filled journey across the ocean. With the help of her new companion, the girl challenged sea monsters and fate.

They stood at the helm of “Moana”. Ron Clements and John Muskerthe directing duo responsible for “The Little Mermaid”, “Aladdin” and “The Princess and the Frog”, and the script was written by Jared Bush, known for his work on “Zootopia”.

Moana spoke with the voice of Auli'i Cravalho, and Maui Dwayne Johnson. In the Polish language version, the characters were voiced by, among others: Weronika Bochat (Vaiana), Igor Kwiatkowski (Maui), Piotr Grabowski (chief Tui), Dorota Stalińska (grandma Tala), Magdalena Turczeniaewicz (Sina) and Maciej Maleńczuk (Tamatoa).

The story about Moana was inspired by the oral histories of the peoples of Oceania, according to which three thousand years ago, Polynesian travelers, the bravest sailors in the world, traveled across the vastness of the South Pacific, discovering subsequent islands of the mighty archipelago.

The character of the demigod Maui was also inspired by myths and legends widespread in the Oceania region. “We were fascinated by the stories we read and were told by experts in this part of the world,” explained John Musker, co-director of “Moaana”. – “Maui had superhuman abilities, he was cunning and could take on various shapes. He could pull entire islands out of the sea with a fishing hook and slow down the sun. An amazing character.”

“Maui changed my life (I miss you, Grandpa). I am honored to work with Disney to tell our story through music and dance, which is the essence of who we Polynesians are,” Dwayne Johnson wrote on Twitter last April . The famous actor attached a recording to the post, in which he announced the creation of a live-action version of “Moaana”.

However, its premiere will take place only in July 2026, and in the meantime, in just a few months (November 27 – world premiere, two days later Polish premiere) we will see the second part of “Moana”. This is quite surprising information, because it was never said that Disney was planning to implement it. We were only talking about a series in which we would see the further fate of the characters.

The sequel is directed by David G. Derrick Jr. and features music by Grammy Award winners Abigail Barlow, Emily Bear and Mark Mancina, as well as Grammy nominee Opetaia Foa'i.

The main characters will speak again with the voices of Auli'i Cravalho and Dwayne Johnson.
