During the November time of reflection, the document “Anja“, available on Polsat Box Go. This is one of the episodes of a series showing real human stories about transformation, closeness and coming to terms with the topic of death.
The heroine of the documentary “Anja” is Anja Franczakfounder of the Institute of Good Death, the first mourning companion in Poland and lay mistress of funeral ceremonies. In the production, she talks about her journey, which began with personal experience and led her to creating a space to support people in experiencing loss.
It is a story about a woman who, after a difficult moment in her life, decided to give it a new meaning. Through her work, Anja helps others find peace when leaving becomes part of everyday life. It teaches how to accompany loved ones and how to talk about topics we usually avoid.
The Good Death Institute, founded by Anja, is a place of education, support and open conversation about the inevitable. Workshops and meetings organized there show that mourning is not a taboo topic, but a natural stage of life. Anja’s goal is to accustom people to the idea that death does not end relationships, and presence and attentiveness to those who pass away may be the most important gesture of love.
“My task is that we can teach others how to be with their loved ones until the end,” says Franczak.
The camera accompanies the heroine in her everyday life, allowing us to look into her world with extraordinary tenderness. This is an episode not only about mourning, but about courage, hope and new beginnings.
The public premiere of the production took place at the Copernicus Science Center. The event was attended by the heroine’s friends, members of the Institute of Good Death and people who took part in workshops and meetings conducted by Anja. The show was not only a screening of the episode, but also a symbolic meeting of people united by the idea of talking about leaving with empathy and respect.
The episode “Anja” is available on Polsat Box Go, in the Premium, Start, Lovers and Premium Sport packages. Bartosz Wróblewski is responsible for directing, Karol Sawicki for cinematography and editing, and Ewelina Tomasik is the producer. The episode is part of the “Migrants” series, about people for whom life in Poland became a new beginning.
