Sam Mendes (“American Beauty”, “1917”) is currently working on films about the Beatles. He came up with an ambitious idea to make four biographical films about the band, each of which would present the story of one of the musicians of the legendary four: John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr.
All productions under the Sony Pictures banner will have separate cinema premieres. In the film biographies we will see: Harris Dickinson (John Lennon), Paul Mescal (Paul McCartney), Joseph Quinn (George Harrison) and Barry Keoghan (Ringo Starr).
Now we know the names of the actresses who will play their wives. Saoirse Ronan (“The Outrun”) will play Linda McCartney, Anna Sawai (“Shogun”) will play Yoko Ono, Aimee Lou Wood (“Toxic Town”) will play Pattie Boyd, and Mia McKenna-Bruce (“Sister Wives”) will play Maureen Starkey.
“Maureen, Linda, Yoko and Pattie are four fascinating characters – I’m delighted that we were able to convince four of the most talented actresses to join this extraordinary adventure,” Mendes said in a statement.
The director also recently revealed that all productions will have a cinema premiere in April 2028.
“We’re not making just one film about the Beatles – we’re making four. Perhaps this is a chance to understand them a little deeper,” Mendes announced.
