“A Sonication”the seventh album by the progressive technical death metallers from Munich, will be the second part of the conceptual trilogy started on the previous album “A Valediction” from 2021. Production of new material – together with Steffen Kummererguitar-playing vocalist and founder Obscura – the respected Swedish specialist took up the matter again Fredrik Nordstromhead of Gothenburg’s Studio Fredman and leader of the group Dream Evil.
Obscura with a new album and new lineup. What do we already know?
This year, the guitarist left the frequently changing ranks of the Munich band Christian Münzner and Austrian drummer David Diepoldand two years earlier a Dutch bassist Jeroen Paul Thesseling. Their positions were recently taken by a guitarist Kevin Olaszbassist from the Netherlands Robin Zielhorst and well known on the Polish metal scene JamesStewartdrummer of Lesser Poland bands Anal Stench and Distrüster and Krosno Decapitatedand also a former musician Vader.

The longplay “A Sonication” will be released on February 7, 2025 by the German Nuclear Blast Records (CD, vinyl, digital).
With the premiere of the new album, Obscura will go on tour around Europe. As part of it, the Bavarian band will perform on February 25, 2025 on the terraces of the Łącznik club in Wrocław. At her side we will see a deathcore group Rings Of Saturn from the USA and progressive technical death metallers from France Gorod. Tickets for the Polish Obscura concert – organized by Knock Out Productions – are available at PLN 109 and PLN 119 (first and second pool in pre-sale) and PLN 130 (on the day of the event).
