Some of the fragments were recorded via remote sessions, and some of the guitarists actually met in the studio. Mark Knopfler has already thanked everyone who decided to take part in the honorable project.

“I honestly had no idea this was going to happen. Guy and I realized pretty early on that we needed to expand the song somehow to accommodate the number of people who were joining in. Before I knew it, Pete Townshend walked into my studio armed with a guitar and amp. And that first chord from Pete… man, I’m telling you – we heard it, it’s just fantastic. Everything went from there. Eric (Clapton) came in, played great, one tasty song after another. Then he showed up Jeff Beck and it was charming. I think what we ended up with was truly an embarrassment of riches. Everything was top notch,” said the guitarist, who will release the album in April “One Deep River”.
