Slash announces blues album. A galaxy of stars on “Orgy of the Damned”

Slash will release an album “Orgy of the Damned” on May 17 this year. The legendary guitarist decided to release an album with blues music because it was behind his interest in music and his beloved instrument. The first single announcing the album has already appeared online – “Killing Floor”which was originally released by Howlin’ Wolf in 1964.

He sings in the song Brian Johnsonand plays the harmonica Steven Tyler. “These are guys I grew up listening to, who had a big influence on me as a rock ‘n’ roll player,” he said in an interview with “Ultimate Classic Rock Nights.” “It’s definitely a magical moment for me,” he added.

Listen to “Killing Floor” by Slash and company:

The guitarist explains that when coming up with the concept for his own version of the song, he was wondering what to do so that it wouldn’t be “just another ordinary cover”. “(…) I thought, ‘Who should I call? I don’t want to go for the most obvious blues players. I want guys who totally understand it. There’s definitely a traditional blues market with guys who do just that. I didn’t want to go that route. I wanted make it a little more eclectic. Brian was the first guy I thought of for this song,” the musician admits.

It turned out that Johnson was happy with Slash’s proposal – the song was very important to him in his teenage years. “He knew it by heart,” Slash says. It also turned out that Steven Tyler was involved in the song purely by accident. “(…) I went to Florida and we recorded it. I came back to Los Angeles and Steven came to visit me about something else. He brought his harmonicas with him. I played it for him and he said, ‘Oh yeah!’ He jumped in and he just played this really fast improvised part. You know, Steven is a hardcore, old-school bluesman,” says the 58-year-old guitarist.

In addition to those mentioned, the album will also feature, among others: Gary Clark Jr., Iggy Pop, Beth Hart Whether Demi Lovato.
