“Buffy the Vampire Slayer” is a series that changed the face of television in the 1990s, combining horror with youth drama and brilliant humor. Buffy Summers, played by the charismatic Sarah Michelle Gellar, is not just another teenage heroine – jHer task is to fight vampires and other supernatural threats. She is supported in this difficult mission by a group of loyal friends. The series is distinguished by surprising threads that touch on the themes of maturation, loss, identity and the fight against one’s own weaknesses, which has earned it a crowd of loyal fans around the world.
Due to the level of quality of the series, the main actress never considered returning to her iconic role – she was always against it, as a reboot could destroy what had already been created. Recently, the actress surprised the audience on the Drew Barrymore show with her confession that now she has changed her mind and would love to take on another project from the Buffy universe.
“It’s funny. I’ve always been against it because this show exists in its bubble and it’s perfect at it. Watching the new ‘Sex and the City’ and ‘Dexter,’ I realized there are ways to do it. It made me think about it and maybe it makes sense,” the actress revealed.
When asked if it would have to be a sequel, she replied:
“NO, it could be anything. This is the universe. You realize that in today’s world we need heroes. Perhaps now more than ever.”
The resumption of the cult production is quite likely. Dolly Parton, who remained one of the producers of the series for years, said in an interview for “Business Insider” in 2024 that Discussions are underway regarding the potential resumption of work on the project.
