“Ronja, the Robber’s Daughter” tells the story of the titular girl, born during a storm. That day, lightning split her father Mattis’s castle in half. While exploring the surrounding forest, Ronja meets Birk, the son of the leader of the enemy gang. Children make friends. When Mattis objects to their contacts, Ronja leaves the castle and lives with Birk in the Bear Cave.
The Swedish production will have six episodes. Kerstin Linden played the title role. Her father was played by Christopher Wagelin. All episodes were directed by Lisa James Larsson.
Astrid Lindgren (1907-2002) was the author of popular children’s novels. She wrote, among others, “Fizia Pończoszanka”, “Children of Bullerbyn” and “Brothers Lwiehearte”. “Ronja, the Robber’s Daughter” was published in 1981.
