Quentin Tarantino abandons “The Movie Critic”. This was supposed to be his last film

Just a few weeks ago, we reported on speculations about the latest and last film directed by Quentin Tarantino. The main role in “The Movie Critic” was supposed to go to Brad Pitt. Tarantino cooled down the enthusiasm of journalists during the Cannes festival in 2023. “I haven't decided yet (who I will cast), but it will be someone around thirty-five,” he revealed. In February this year, all rumors were put to rest – Pitt was officially cast as the main character of a film by a famous director.

“The Movie Critic” was supposed to be made for Sony Pictures and would be released in cinemas in 2025. The action would take place in the 1970s. As the creator of “Pulp Fiction” says, the character would be based on a real film critic who never gained recognition because he wrote for an adult magazine.

We convey all this in the subjunctive mood, because today the media reported that Quentin Tarantino abandons the project.

As we read on Deadline, Quentin Tarantino has resigned from the film “The Movie Critic”. Apparently he “changed his mind”, rewrote the entire script, which delayed the start of production, and ultimately abandoned the project.

It looks like “The Movie Critic” won't be Quentin Tarantino's tenth and last film. Will he decide to start another project? Nothing is known about this at the moment.
