A while ago, we reported that fans had heard rumors about Robert Pattinson returning to the role of Batman. It was supposed to happen in the HBO series “Penguin”. What is the latest news related to the new series?
The series’ showrunner told SFX magazine that she understands fans’ desire to see Pattinson back as Batman. Lauren LeFranc explained:
“They think that if Batman doesn’t appear in a TV series or a movie, (the production) won’t have the same power.”
In the further part of the statement she explained that the series has a completely different perspective. We do not look at Gotham through Batman’s eyes, i.e. from above, from the roofs of buildings far from the problems of the street. The series with Penguin in the main role shows everything that is below, the streets of the city and their filth, and looking up, the hero “wants to climb to the top”.
Matt Reeves emphasizes that the lack of a superhero will not cause viewers to forget that this is Batman’s world.
“The specter of Batman is there. (…) The specter of everything that happens in the last movie is there.”
“Penguin” will consist of eight episodes and will tell the story of Penguin’s rise to the top of Gotham City’s criminal underworld.
The series is written by Lauren LeFranc (Chuck, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) and produced by Matt Reeves and Dylan Clark, as well as Warner Bros. The first three episodes will be directed by Craig Zobel (Mare of Easttown).
The title role will be played once again Colin Farrellwhom we could see as Oswald Cobblepot in the movie “Batman” from 2021. The actor admits that he is happy that he will have the opportunity to play the Penguin once again, and his adventure with the character will last longer than he initially expected.
