In just a few days, on March 21, a new series from the creators of the famous series, which was “Game of Thrones”. This time David Benioff and DB Weiss based on a certain novel of which Barack Obama is a fan. When they found out about it, they offered him the role.
David Benioff and DB Weiss probably have no problems convincing anyone to cooperate after “Game of Thrones” turned out to be an international hit. However, there was one person who was completely resistant to their requests, namely former US President Barack Obama. He was supposed to have a short, episodic role. Despite my fondness for this series, did not agree to take part in the project and replied to the creators with a short, funny note.
“If there’s ever a real alien invasion, I think I should spare myself this crisis,” Barack Obama wrote back.
“The Three-Body Problem” is the biggest project of the creator duo since “Game of Thrones”. The series focuses on several characters who try to stop an alien invasion. The novel on which the production is based is the first volume of the trilogy, and its action begins in China during the Cultural Revolution.
In an interview with the BBC, Weiss said that he and Benioff they were enchanted by the complexity of this bookcalling it “unlike anything we’ve ever read, and certainly unlike anything we’ve ever considered bringing to the screen.”
The cast of the new series includes John Bradley, Benedict Wong, Liam Cunningham, Jonathan Pryce, Rosalind Chao, Jess Hong, Zene Tseng, Eiza González and Marlo Kelly.
Will further volumes of this novel be adapted into films? We will probably find out some time after the premiere of the new series.
