Ice Spice spent the beginning of the year in Australia, where she headlined several major music events, including the Beyond the Valley festival in Victoria and three editions of the Wildlands Festival in Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide. The most commented on was her performance during the New Year’s Eve edition of Wildlands in Brisbane.
Short appearance, great controversy: Ice Spice in the crosshairs
Announced as one of the main stars of the evening, Ice Spice was scheduled to perform from 10:30 to 11:00 p.m. However, due to delays, she only appeared on stage at 10:55 p.m. Ultimately, the artist performed only two songs, “Deli” and “Princess Diana”, before the organizers were forced to interrupt her concert during the third song, “In Ha Mood”.
“At 11:01 p.m. – the organizers gave her an extra minute – the microphone was turned off,” reported journalist Brenton Larney. The audience was very disappointed.
“We understand your disappointment. Managing the tight festival schedule requires us to strictly adhere to time trials. We had to make sure that the final performance started on time so that everyone could fully enjoy the countdown to the New Year,” the organizers wrote on Instagram.
Ice Spice in Australia: Is an apology enough?
Meanwhile, Ice Spice did not speak immediately. Only during the next concert in Perth, on January 4, did the artist briefly comment on the situation.
“I’m sorry, I hope you can forgive me. It was my birthday and it takes a while to get all Barbie,” she said.
