Miluś the dragon returns in the new volume of the series “Kajko and Kokosz. New Adventures”

The album “Miluś’s Return” is the third story from the “Kajko and Kokosz – New Adventures” series, after “Royal Horseman” and “Eclipse at Twilight”. This is the official continuation of one of the most famous Polish comic book series created by Janusz Christa. Each album in the series contains one full-length story. , who, in their own style, but with great respect for the spirit of the original, have been successfully creating new stories about Kajko, Kokosz and other heroes from Mirmiłów for years.

“When will Miluś the dragon return?” This is one of the most frequently asked questions that fans of Kajek and Kokosz have asked in recent years to the screenwriter of “New Adventures”, Maciej Kur. Requests to bring back the friendly dragon to the series finally found their way into the album “Powrót Miluś”. Why did fans have to wait so many years to meet Miluś again in the series “Kajko and Kokosz. New Adventures”?

– I knew she was like that the story MUST be unique. I wanted to avoid something trivial. If Miluś dropped into Mirmiłów for no reason, it would be completely inconsistent with why he left it in the album “Miracle Drug”. I wasn’t in a rush to finish this comic because… I knew that finding the right plot would be a breakneck challenge – This is how Maciej Kur talks about the concept of Miluś’s return to the series – But one day I finally did it I asked myself, how would I tell this story if I HAD to tell it? How would I guide it to evoke the emotions I felt when I put “Miracle Drug” on the shelf? After forty minutes, I had a story made up from A to Z! Of course, there was a long process of polishing the script, perfecting it, making changes, but the idea itself came straight from the heart – and in the case of Milusia, this is how it should be.

Maciej Kur reveals that it will be fairy-tale, sentimental and nostalgic, although of course with a large dose of humor:

– ““Miluś’s Return” is a story about an unexpected meeting after the age of…atach, but also about giving a second chance and that no one is “irreparable”. I wanted to balance crazy comedy with scenes that keep you in suspense and fragments that are touching or reflective. Humor is very important in the “Kajko and Kokosz” series, but sometimes you have to know when to press pause to make the dramatic moments sound better. Sometimes it’s good to do it a little earlier to slowly change to a different tone. Otherwise, the reader may feel a sense of mood swings when there is a joke in one frame and a drama in the next. I’ve been working on the last part of the story for a long time. This is the moment to which the entire plot builds – there should be as much action and surprises as possible. Character development played a very important role in “Miuś’s Return”, so I wanted to have space for it in a way that seemed natural. That’s why I came up with a cluster of very strong moments following. That’s good, because I wanted it to be a story that would stick in my mind even after I put it down, and I guess (hopefully!) I did it worked out.

Maciej Kur also reveals that in this story, apart from Miluś, many familiar faces will return – more than in the previous albums from the “New Adventures” series.

– Christa had many great characters that appeared only once, but every time I reach for them, it turns out that they still have great potential. If it weren’t for the fact that many of them live outside the town, they could easily appear in the series regularly. In “The Return of Miluś” I used several non-obvious characters – including two of the fair sex. Their relationship has always intrigued me, although in Christa’s book it was never directly shown, but only slightly sketched. The whole “untold story” that happened in the universe of “Kajek and Kokosz” seemed very intriguing to me. But don’t worry – I left a note of mystery and room for interpretation of this story.

This is not the end of surprises. The album “Powrot Miluś” will also include an answer to an issue that has been bothering fans of the “Kajko i Kokosz” series for years. However, the scriptwriter does not reveal what exactly is going on…

– There are several Christas in the comics inconsistencies. Sometimes he told the story in such a way that its elements contradicted the previous threads. patch one of these plot holes and make something that was “. I decided that it was better not to treat these things in Christa’s work as mistakes, but as “puzzles” that must have an answer. And sometimes it turns out that it is very simple. I already have answers to several such “puzzles” and I would like to reveal them all in future albums. In “Powrot Miluś” I solved the first of them and I can’t figure it out. wait to see how the fans react to it – Maciej Kur does not hide his excitement.

Tomasz Kołodziejczak – SF writer, founder of the “Fantastic Channel” on the YouTube platform, who a few years ago invented the “Kajko i Kokosz” publishing lines – “Nowe Przygody” and “Opowieści z Mirmiłów” and still looks after them, also does not hide his satisfaction with album “The Return of Miluś”:

– “Kajko was lucky, but Kokosz will eat the egg!” – these are the blood-curdling circumstances in which Miluś appeared in the universe of Janusz Christa. Fortunately, Kokosz fought his gluttony and the dragon got his chance. He immediately won the hearts of the readers of the series and (though definitely not immediately) the inhabitants, pigs and Mirmiłów’s authorities. Well, but the heart is not a servant – Miluś followed his Miłasia and disappeared from comic book cards. So when Maciej Kur informed me that in the next volume “New Adventures” is planning the return of the dragon, I had no doubt that it was a great idea. And when he presented the script to me, I knew I had a great, witty story on my hands. Referring to the Master’s heritage and playing out various details from the classic albums of the series, but at the same time adding new elements – gags, sets and characters. Developing the entire universe while maintaining great respect for the original. As in the previous volumes – but with Miluś! Then Sławomir Kiełbus drew brilliant boards, and Piotr Bednarczyk skillfully colored them. So I like the end result even more than Maciej’s script! I hope that they will also appreciate “Miuś’s Return”. readers, new and old fans of the series.
