Often, artists after their Eurovision successes – whether against the international or national background – decide on the album to somehow to somehow upset their position in the musical world. This can be seen even on the example of Croatian Baby Lasagna.
Glow She decided to follow a similar path, publishing “No rest”. I must admit that it surprised me a bit with her sounds on this album – even in the opening “Wild West”which can throw a fresh look at Luna’s pop work, confirming her style, well known for “The Tower”.
However, there is no shortage of moments when Luna’s style simply becomes monotonous. Despite the huge wave of criticism, I myself was a supporter of the song “The Tower” – he brought a fresh breeze to Polish pop, using many elements of electronic music. On “No Rest”, where each song is based almost on the same patent, it can begin to get bored. However, there is one exception – “Endless Sun”. Keeping the right proportions, of course, has this song something from “Dawn FM” The Weeknda and I buy it.
As for the lyrics, Luna focused on describing all the negative emotions and the experiences that met her around the Eurovision performance. As she admitted in a recent interview with Music Interia – she wants to carry light with her music and inspire to get out of the dark, which she often sings. These are important decisions that you always need to praise. While on “no rest” repetition of the same musical motifs is quickly bored, I lyrically like this coherence that keeps the album in check.
The whole album is written in English, but in one of the two bonus of tracks we can hear “everything plays” in Polish. And I have to honestly admit that I like Luna much more in this edition. I quietly hope that this is such a small trailer of future songs in which it will be more likely to reach for his native language, because you can see that he can find himself well in it.
In the end, we got the correct material, which is probably the best summary of the entire Eurovision adventure and everything that was happening around. As I mentioned, after listening to the whole, no song, except the already mentioned “Endless Sun”, did not stick to me for a long time. However, I think that this album will be most useful to Luna herself, which needs all this noise around Eurovision to separate with a thick line.
