Luke Perry he was one of the most recognizable actors of the 90s. We could see him in productions such as “Beverly Hills, 90210”, “Buffy the Vampire Slayer”, and in recent years in the series “Riverdale”. His career was interrupted by his sudden death at the age of only 52.
A few days before his death, the actor underwent surgery. Unfortunately, his condition was deteriorating, so the decision was made to put Perry into a medically induced coma. According to previous reports, the cause of death was a stroke.
Dr. Michael Hunter spoke on the matter and stated that the stroke was caused by a blood clot, which could have been related to frequent air travel. As it turns out, Luke Perry regularly traveled from Los Angeles to Vancouver to attend the filming of the series “Riverdale”.
“It is well documented that sitting for long periods of time in a tight space, such as an airplane, puts you at risk for deep vein thrombosis. (…) If this clot moves, it can block underlying blood vessels,” Dr. Hunter explained.
The actor himself also often mentioned how frequent traveling negatively affected his well-being.
According to the actor’s agent, Luke Perry on the day of his death was surrounded by his loved ones, children Jack and Sophie, fiancée Wendy Madison Bauer, ex-wife Minnie Sharp, mother Ann Bennett, stepfather Steve Bennett, brother Tom Perry, sister Amy Coder, as well as other family members and friends who took turns keeping vigil at his bedside.
