Łukasz Simlat prefers to be a “difficult” actor rather than a thoughtless one. He says exactly what he wants!

Łukasz Simlat is one of the best Polish actors of the 40+ generation. Although he specializes in playing the so-called villains, he is very liked, even admired, because he gives his whole self to the characters he plays.

“When I come up with a character's emotional path, I know how to do it, and every year my awareness in this area becomes greater. I always give my besteven if I get to play another evil character,” he explained recently in an interview for “Viva!”.

Star of the last two series “Rojsta” he doesn't hide the fact that his mother – a doctor – dreamed of him following in her footsteps, but he wasn't interested in treatment at all, and the sight of blood made him feel sick. However, he liked working in the pharmacy, where – when his mother took him to the hospital – he would sneak in to watch the beautiful pharmacist prepare various medicines.

“Mrs. Bożenka measured the ingredients precisely. I was fascinated by it. I also suspect that I was simply in love with her,” he recalls.

The idea of becoming an actor came to him when he got to high school.

“But I started the crank much earlier. For example, when someone came to our house, I could disguise myself as a highlander“, suddenly enter the room where everyone was sitting and tell highlander jokes for half an hour,” he joked in an interview with “Viva!”, adding that he still has video tapes of his “performances”, but he is afraid to watch them.

“I am afraid that I will see embarrassment and lies that I no longer consent to,” he claims.

Łukasz Simlat admits that when he decided to apply to theater school, he was determined to get his grade. Dorota Pomykała prepared him for the examswho ran her own acting studio in Katowice, so when he appeared before the committee, he knew exactly what to do.

Nobody was able to surprise me. However, I remember that during the exams, already in Warsaw, I lost seven kilos. I gave so much of myself to this idea,” he recalls.

Playing the role of Adam Turek in the cult “BrzydUla” Already during his studies, he worked hard to achieve success, sometimes even staying at school all night long.

“Today, young people have a different approach. They are assertive. We, from our generation, do not have this. In the name of acting, we will allow ourselves to be slaughtered and beaten. And this is something that I have to cure myself from. I have to change my thinking, because it is not like that “as I was taught, 'an actor doesn't get sick, an actor dies',” he confessed in “Vivy!”.

Łukasz Simlat says that I've been trying to be assertive for a few years now. He is annoyed that he is labeled “difficult to work with” just because he requires a working kettle in the hotel room where he is staying while shooting for a movie or TV series.

When asked if it is easy to be an actor in Poland, Simlat says that it is It's easy to be a thoughtless actor.

“It's easy to learn where you stand, where you speak and what you say. But I don't consider it acting. Acting must be worth something,” he told “Vivie!”.

Luke dreams of standing on stage or in front of the camera talking about important things, not nonsense. Although he has many outstanding roles and several prestigious awards to his credit, and is perceived as an artist with exceptional talent, he is still waiting for the role of a lifetime, and “along the way” – these are his words – he plays whatever is offered to him.

“My appetite is still sharp because I still feel hungry. I would like to tackle something big, so I'm waiting, I don't turn off the phone,” he says.
