Leszek Staroń is dead. The famous director and screenwriter was 86 years old

The filmpolski.pl portal reported the sad news that Leszek Staroń is dead. The Polish director and screenwriter of feature films and documentaries passed away on April 22 at the age of 86.

Leszek Staroń was born on April 10, 1938 in Warsaw. He studied at the Directing Department of the National Film School in Łódź. He started his career by directing school etudes. A breakthrough for the creator was the television film “Free Saturday” from 1977 with Wojciech Siemion and Mieczysław Gawełek in the main roles.

In the following years, Staroń focused on documentary films. His last work was “Ut sit bene patriae (First, the good of the homeland)” from 2022, which was dedicated to Józef Wybicki. Leszek Staroń directed the film, wrote the script and collected archival materials.

In the years 2003-2024, he was the second director of the series “Na Wspólnej”.
