“La Promesa – the palace of secrets” is a Spanish costume soap opera set in Andalusia in 1913. The central place of intrigue is the titular palace, belonging to the powerful but indebted Marquis family of Luján. The main character, young Jana Expósito, comes to the estate with the intention of revenge. She works in the palace as a maid. Her mission is complicated by her emerging feelings for Manuel, the marquis’ son. The series combines crime, social drama and romance, showing the clash of the worlds of aristocracy and service. TVP2 viewers follow the fate of the characters, immersing themselves in Spanish history full of secrets and intrigues.
Candela returns to work in the kitchen, enjoying the support of her friends. Catalina and Pelayo celebrate a successful first shipment of jams. Everything indicates that their business is starting to prosper. Manuel is surprised by his wife’s quick recovery and her proposal to go away together. Rómulo begins training Mauro, although he does not know that it will become more and more difficult over time. Feliciano distances himself from his sister.
Manuel, disappointed with the current situation in his marriage, decides, against the will of his mother, Cruz, to regain the joy of life and enters an aviation competition. His decision arouses strong emotions in Jimena, who in desperation feigns deterioration of her health.
Meanwhile, Mauro deepens his knowledge about wine, and Candela is still upset about Carlos’ decision.
A heated argument breaks out between Catalina and Cruzwho firmly demands that her daughter find a husband immediately. This pressure shifts to Pelayo, whom Cruz urges to fulfill the existing contract and win Catalina’s heart.
Cruz, wanting to dissuade Manuel from returning to aviation, discusses with Jimena how to convince him to do so. Meanwhile, Margarita signs the notarial documents and finally takes possession of her 25% shares in La Promesa, winnings in a memorable poker game with Captain de la Mata.
There is a warming among the servants: Feliciano is happy to be closer to Teresa and the others, which immediately arouses Petra’s irritation and dissatisfaction.
Jana and Abel visit Ramona. Dr. Bueno determines that the woman has memory problems and although she is physically healthy, her mind seems “foggy.” However, it is one unexpected comment from Ramona that makes Abel suspect that Jana may have been deceiving him. At the end, an increasingly visible intimacy develops between Catalina and Pelayo.
Manuel stands before his mother and wife, announcing that he will take part in the flying competition after all. However, the intriguers’ plans finally bring results. Manuel receives a letter from the Civil Guard informing him that he cannot continue flying the plane.
The mood is completely different for Catalina and Pelayo – their blossoming business prospects are taking real shape. They receive payment for their first order of jams and happily celebrate their success.
Margarita puts its 25% shares in La Promesa under Catalina’s managementinfuriating the Marquise!
There is confusion among the servants. Mauro finds it difficult to reconcile the demanding job of a butler with intensive studies under the supervision of his boss, but he can count on Lope’s help. In turn, Lope, despite being fired, spends a lot of time in the kitchen, which prompts Rómulo to have a serious conversation.
Rómulo confesses to Pia that he is getting weaker and wants to prepare Mauro to take over his role, which makes the young butler worry about the future. Teresa is getting closer to Feliciano.
Manuel discovers that Jimena brought the Civil Guard, which leads to a sharp exchange of words between the couple. Catalina asks her aunt for support in managing La Promesa.
Abel confides in Salvador and Lope that he asked Jana for an engagement, and a Manuel tries again to find out about Ramona from his mother.
