Kendrick Lamar just got over Drake. Now he’s picking on Lil Wayne

In the summer of 2024, the entire internet was full of conflict Kendrick Lamar and Drake. It all started with a response to a guest verse J. Cole in Drake’s song titled “First Person Shooter“, in which Cole calls himself and the previously mentioned artists the “big three” of mainstream rap.

Kendrick didn’t wait too long to show who ruled the stage. However, Drake was hit the hardest, with whom Lamar had been exchanging offensive songs for quite a long time. The most controversial issue was “Not Like Us“, which was also hailed as the biggest hit of the summer. Lamar very bluntly suggested that Drake had inappropriate relationships with minors, which caused quite a storm on the Internet.

Who else did Kendrick Lamar pick on?

A few days before the premiere of the previously mentioned hit, the rapper’s appearance at the upcoming halftime show was announced Super Bowl. This decision was met with a lot of very diverse opinions. Some praised Kendrick, saying he definitely deserved it, while others expressed outrage, sadness and anger.

These are the people who were affected by the rapper’s unexpectedly published album titled “GNX“The upcoming football championship will be held in New Orleans, which made the community interested in hip-hop music assume that we would see a representative of the local scene, Lil Wayne.

A huge storm began on the Internet. Expressions of disappointment towards Jay-Z, who is responsible for selecting the artists for the Super Bowl, were directed, among others, by: DJ Akademiks, Master P Whether Nicki Minaj. The latter, in her post on Platform X, addressed Jay-Z: “You are denying a young black man his contribution to this game solely because of your ego. Your hatred for BirdmanDrake and Nicki made you decide to punish Lil Wayne? GOAT?”.

The New Orleans representative himself admitted that he was sorry about this decision: “It hurt, it hurt a lot.”

In the opening number of the album, Kendrick responded to everyone outraged by Jay-Z’s decision, rapping: “I won the Super Bowl and Nas was the only one to congratulate me, everyone got angry, I’m glad they showed their faces.” Weezy also failed to avoid the tease: “Irony, I think my hard work let Lil Wayne down.”

The rapper still doesn’t fully understand why Kendrick even mentioned him in the song, but he said he’s ready to talk: “Man, what have I done?! I’m just chilling and they keep attacking me. Don’t confuse my kindness with weakness “No one wants escalation, and neither do I. But if anyone provokes me, I will attack.”
