Joanna Kreft-Baka graduated from theater school in 1988, but she made her stage debut three years earlier. Her first role was in Witold Gombrowicz’s “History” on the stage of the Polish Theater in Wrocław. The actress met her husband Mirosław Bakawhile still in college. As she recalled, they noticed each other during the entrance exams, and after a few months they were already a couple. Their relationship, although happy, was not without difficult moments. The couple went through a serious crisis when “Mirek felt too self-confident,” admits the actress. After a short break, they got back together and got married in 1988. Since then, they have been a harmonious couple, although the beginnings of their life together were difficult. In one of his interviews, Baka recalled that at a time when there were no acting offers, he had to take up physical work to support his family.
