The thriller “Animals” will tell the story of a mayoral candidate and his wife whose son is kidnapped. Surrounded by political enemies and other hostile people, the couple will have to get their hands dirty to save their child.
The script for the film, which is being developed for Netflix, was written by Connor McIntyre (“Coronation Street”) and Billy Ray (“Captain Phillips”).
The film will be produced by Ben Affleck and Matt Damon. The actors, who won an Oscar for the script of the film “Good Will Hunting”, recently began a new phase of their professional careers by founding the production company Artists Equity. One of their first joint projects was the film “Air”.
Now they are joining forces again. Affleck will be responsible for directing “Animals”, and Damon will play the main role of a mayoral candidate. His wife is to be played by Affleck’s ex-wife, Jennifer Garner.
Ben Affleck has never directed his ex-wife before. They appeared on screen together in three productions before their wedding. These were the films “Pearl Harbor” from 2001, “Daredevil” from 2003 and two years later “Elektra”, which was a spin-off of “Daredevil”. Affleck and Garner married in 2005 and were together for thirteen years.
In 2024, we will be able to see Garner on the cinema screen in the third part of “Deadpool”. The actress will return to the role of Elektra.
