The first reports of a live-action Invincible movie were made in 2017, well before the premiere of the animated series, which was created in collaboration with Robert Kirkman and Prime Video. Now we have a disappointing update.
The Invincible series hit Prime Video in 2021, and there are currently two thrilling seasons available. Even after the huge success of the animated series, Robert Kirkman has assured that the live-action film is still in the works, although his commitment to the highest quality production has caused work to slow down.
During an interview at San Diego Comic-Con, Robert Kirkman was asked for an update on the film.
“It’s still in development. We’re still working with Universal. Everything’s going very well. I think the film has to be absolutely perfect. That’s why it takes a lot of time, like adjusting the elements and fitting everything together,” he explained in an interview with “The Direct”.
Later in his statement, he emphasized that the work has been going on for a long time and will probably continue for a long time, because the new production must meet several conditions: it should be as good as the series, and in some respects even surpass it.
The answer to the question of when we will see the live-action production is unclear. From previous statements by the series creator, it appears that he is aiming for the animation to reach its finale first, and then focus on the film.
Considering that Prime Video renewed the series for a fourth season long before we received any word on a Season 3 premiere date, the film will be a while away, and fans will have to be patient.
