IGNACY “Limbo”: evolution or revolution? (REVIEW)

Of course, I am closer to comparing IGNACY with the brilliant Briton. As I mentioned when reviewing the debut “Central Park” – two most popular songs, i.e “I’m waiting for a signand “What I have”these are definitely its weakest moments. Sometimes I feel downright frustrated as to why we had to wait until the second album for such creative freedom.

Let’s take a song as an example “Abyss”. It’s amazing how many beat switches he dared to do, how he wasn’t afraid to experiment vocally. It’s unbelievable how far away we landed after “Central Park”.

“Limbo” is an album that’s hard to think of as anything other than a collective. It’s hard to judge individual songs when each of them works really well together. You can compare it to “Hit Me Hard And Soft” From Billie Eilishwhich should also be looked at as a whole – without breaking it down into individual songs.

However, it is on “Limbo” one song that I couldn’t stop humming for the rest of the day after listening to the album – it’s about “24/7”. I think it is a great showcase of the entire album, which is why I’m not surprised that it appeared as one of the singles promoting this release. Similarly to “Central Park”, the title track, despite being, in my opinion, one of the better ones, is the most underrated. Why is this happening? I have no idea, but this calm song “Limbo” really deserves your attention.

The word “limbo” itself in English means a state of suspension, uncertainty – it’s hard for me to believe how well it was conveyed on the album, both musically and lyrically. IGNACY made really huge progress during the year, surprising everyone from the first single titled “Poison”.

As he himself admitted in an interview for Interia, one of his main assumptions was to give himself space to experiment, for which he deserves applause. Perhaps “Limbo” won’t be as successful as “Central Park” or any of the single songs like “Waiting for a Sign,” but that doesn’t matter. IGNACY has undergone a huge evolution and at the same time a revolution in its sound. May he continue to create like this.
