Ice concerts in Trentino – Paradice music and Dolomiti Ski Jazz

The ParadIce Music Festival is three months of concerts taking place from January 4 to March 30, 2024, every Thursday and Saturday. Concerts are played on musical instruments made of ice in an igloo-shaped theater located at an altitude of 2,600 meters above sea level. Paradice Band is a group of musicians with various musical education, playing under the artistic direction of Ivan Mariotti.

The igloo theater must reconcile the needs of the audience, musicians and ice instruments. The structure of the building enables natural ventilation of heated air coming from the audience’s breath, which is naturally directed upwards and thus outside the structure. The instruments created by artists Lino Mosconi, Giorgio Tomaselli and Matteo Aielli thus remain at stage height in the cold air. With ideal conditions for creating perfect music, the igloo therefore becomes a “safe space” for instruments.

The ParadIce Arena can be reached by the Paradiso cable car from Passo del Tonale (tickets for lifts and performances can be purchased online or at the ticket office located below the cable car). Concert ticket prices range from EUR 30 to EUR 40.

Music among snowy landscapes – this is the original idea of Dolomiti Ski Jazz. This March, jazz and funk will grace the winter landscape of the Dolomites, offering numerous concerts in popular winter sports centers. As part of Dolomiti Ski Jazz, concerts can be heard on skis, directly on the slopes, in theaters and clubs in the Fiemme and Fassa valleys. The repertoire also includes performances by the most important names on the international jazz scene.
This musical event will also be accompanied by Dolomiti Food Jazz, a food and wine event. During this festival, delicious tastings of local cheeses, wines and beer will take place in Val di Fiemme’s shelters and restaurants.
