“I am a fictional character”: A film about Andrzej Seweryn at the opening of the 64th Krakow Film Festival

“This is not a biographical film, but a portrait of an outstanding European artist captured in motion. Behind the mysterious title character is none other than Andrzej Seweryn. An actor, director, director, social activist, and in Arkadiusz Bartosiak's film, above all, a man who does not rest on his laurels and is constantly looking for new challenges,” write the organizers of the Krakow Film Festival.

Invited to the Polish competition documentary “I am a fictional character” will open the 64th Krakow Film Festival. The ceremony and world premiere with the participation of the director and the film's protagonist will take place May 26 at the Kijów cinema in Krakow.

“How to truly portray an artist who does not stop? Who rushes through life and through his art with the force of a tornado? I decided that there is only one effective method – to be carried away by this force. To throw yourself into the whirlpool. I hope that's what he is like.” our film,” he confesses documentary director Arkadiusz Bartosiak.

“I achieved everything I wanted in life,” says an outstanding Polish actor Andrzej Seweryn, and then takes us on a dynamic journey through subsequent professional challenges, which he still takes up with youthful verve. The actor remains at the peak of his career and does not slow down even for a moment. The camera becomes a companion in his daily activities, thanks to which you can see closely his emerging emotions and passion for work.

“It's a great, energetic cinema, the camera is very close to the hero, in various circumstances, showing what an extraordinary actor and versatile person Seweryn is. Here we have a man in the prime of his life, full of passion and very self-aware. Many hours of material were edited into a fascinating 75 minutes with the Master, who is a flesh and blood character” – he justifies the choice Krzysztof Gierat, director of the Krakow Film Festival.

Arkadiusz Bartosiak (born 1975) is a director and screenwriter of documentaries, short films and commercials. He is a graduate of economics at the University of Warsaw, directing at the Warsaw Film School and the DokPro program at the Wajda School. He worked as a reporter and foreign correspondent. He has three journalistic books to his credit. He has devoted the last three years to working on the documentary “I am a fictional character”.
