“Harry Potter” – new series HBO and Max have started casting. New actors wanted in the UK

The creators of the new production set in the universe created by J.K.Rowling have just officially opened casting calls. New actors for the roles of Harry, Ron and Hermione are sought from the UK and Ireland. The announcement stipulated that candidates must be between 9 and 11 years old in April 2025. Could that be when filming for the series is set to begin?

“We focus on inclusive, comprehensive casting” we read in the announcement.

Let us recall that in 2000, when Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Green and Emma Watson were cast in the main roles in the “Harry Potter” series, the search for actors took 7 months. The young artists were then 11, 12 and 10 years old, respectively.

The new “Harry Potter” series is raising huge expectations, and its success will be ensured by experienced people from the television industry. Francesca Gardiner is the writer and showrunner, known for her work on such productions as “The Transporter,” “The Medici: Masters of Florence” and “His Dark Materials.” Gardiner also has experience as a consultant on the hit HBO series “Succession.” Mark Mylod, who will direct several episodes, will work with her on the project. Mylod is an acclaimed director of series such as “Entourage,” “Shameless” and “The Last of Us,” as well as the film “Menu.”

The series was originally supposed to hit the Max platform, but as a result of the new rebranding strategy, the production will debut under the HBO banner. This means not only greater prestige, but also a larger budget, which will allow for a more spectacular production. The production will be available on both the Max streaming platform and the HBO channel. The new “Harry Potter” is to be a faithful adaptation of JK Rowling’s saga aimed at the next generation of viewers.
