Kaczorowska will regain consciousness, but will be completely disoriented. When he tries to get out of bed, he suddenly falls to the floor. Effect? The patient will start bleeding and the devices monitoring her health will immediately raise an alarm. Nurses will rush into the room and try to control the situation.
– When we picked her up, she calmed down. She was tearing everything apart. We had to change her clothes because she was covered in blood. She is able to breathe, she received oxygen – this is how nurse Anna Styczeń (Anna Lucińska) will tell Aleś (Paweł Małaszyński), Iga’s life partner, the course of the unlucky accident in the hospital in Forest Góra.
Zagajewski will quickly realize that Iga does not understand what is happening to her. He will try to calm her down and explain the situation:
– Listen, Bart operated on your aneurysm, everything went well. It’s now 28 hours after the surgery, you’ve woken up. Your blood pressure and blood count are good, your CRP is slightly elevated, but this is normal after surgery. Everything is going well. Do you hear? We need time. You will recover!
A moment later, the doctor cannot stand the tension and explodes when he learns the details of the incident.
– Did she hit her head?! – Aleś will ask, aware of the possible risks of another brain injury.
– We don’t know…
– I was only gone for a minute… – assured Anna Styczeń.
A shaky Aleś holds his head.
– I went to see another patient… – explains Styczenie ineptly.
– This is the intensive care unit! – Zagajewski explodes.
The worst is yet to come. Research conducted by prof. Barta (Piotr Głowacki) will show that the consequences of a fall may be more serious than initially thought.
– It’s not visible on the CT scan… And that’s what I was afraid of – he will explain to Aleś.
– That’s good, but?
– He has aphasia – Artur will diagnose.
– What type?
– He understands everything, but he can’t speak. Anticipating your question… I don’t know if it’s a result of surgery or falling out of bed. You need to observe it, the professor recommends.
Despite the dramatic diagnosis, Kaczorowska will retain the ability to write. This is how you will communicate with your loved one.
– “Is it going to be like this?” – Kaczorowska will write.
– Aphasia can regress, it takes time. It may just be a reaction to the surgery – Zagajewski will try to console her.
Their conversation will quickly become even more emotional.
– “You don’t have to be here with me” – this is another message from Kaczorowska.
– Iga, I want to be with you – Aleś will answer her.
– “But I don’t want to.”
– NO. You won’t get rid of me that easily, says the Kazakh in a firm tone.
Iga’s fate after brain surgery will be a big question mark. Will aphasia go away? Will the doctor return to work and her old life?
