Ernie Hudson on the failure of “Ghostbusters” in 2016

“Ghostbusters. Ghostbusters” was a female variation on the first installment of the series started in 1984. Starring Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon and LeslieJones. Actors known from the original appeared in the film, but played completely new characters. The film faced online hate from the moment it was announced.

“Empire of Ice” is a sequel “Ghostbusters: Legacies” from 2021. Both films take place in the same world where the original Busters existed. Hudson and the remaining 1980s cast members reprized their roles in the episodes.

In an interview with “The Independent” Ernie Hudson commented on the reception of the 2016 reboot. According to him, the actresses involved are “brilliantly funny,” but the finished film was not what fans of the franchise expected.

“The fans were very attached to the story and the characters. I think they were disappointed,” said the actor who played Winston Zeddemore. “I'm a fan Paul Feig and I won't say a bad word about him. However, I don't understand why he decided to reboot. He could have made a sequel.”
