Information about changes in the team Jam (check!) caused a huge surprise because Maciej Balcar he sang in the Silesian band longer than the legendary singer Rysiek Riedeldied in 1994
Dżem announced that after April 6 it will continue its activities with a new vocalist. “We are very pleased to announce that from April 6, 2024, DŻEM will join the band as a new vocalist Sebastian Riedel. Our paths have crossed many times, and now they have merged into one common musical path full of new challenges,” the musicians said at the beginning of January.
The son of Rysiek Riedel has been at the head of his own formation since 1993 Cree, with which he recorded eight albums. In 2021, he released the album z under his own name Piotr Steczek Quartet. It included the song “Głos ma dobro, nie zło”, the lyrics of which were co-written by Rysiek Riedel.
Now the first photo of Dżem with Sebastian Riedel has appeared on the Internet.
Let us add that Sebastian Riedel has performed on stage with Dżem many times – including: at special birthday concerts. This will also be the nature of the performance at Spodek in Katowice on April 6 – then the band will celebrate its 45th anniversary. At this point, a symbolic passing of the baton will take place – Maciej Balcar will sing as Dżem’s vocalist for the last time, and Sebastian Riedel will sing for the first time.

The origins of the band, which is still active today, date back to 1973. The current founding members are only brothers Adam (guitar) i Beno (bass) Otrębów. Since 1979, they have been accompanied by a guitarist Jerzy Styczyński. They recently performed alongside them Maciej Balcar (vocal), Zbigniew Szczerbiński (drums) and keyboardist’s successor Paweł Berger (tragically died in a bus accident in 2005) – Janusz Borzucki.
Some of the musicians who were part of Dżem are no longer alive Ryszard Riedel (the vocalist died in 1994 at the age of only 37), drummer Michał “Gier” Giercuszkiewiczdrummer Leszek Faliński and his brother Tadeusz Faliński (bass), guitarist Andrzej Urny and drummer Aleksander Wojtasiak.
The current studio achievements of the longest-performing Polish rock band currently include the album “Muza” from 2010, which went platinum.
