“Crimes Next Door”: Meryl Streep will return in the fourth season of the series

The action of the first two seasons “Crime Next Door” took place in the Arconia apartment building in New York, where one day one of the tenants was found dead. Three neighbors – Charles (Steve Martin), Oliver (Martin Short) and Mabel (Selena Gomez) – who previously had little in common, discover that they share a passion for true crime podcasts and a passion for solving puzzles. It soon turns out that the inhabitants of Arconia are hiding a lot of secrets, and the trio will have to deal with more than one mystery.

Fans of the series showing the bloody events taking place in the Arconia apartment building are used to the fact that crime and the inhabitants of the New York building are a constant. Among them are three amateur detectives: Charles Haden-Savage (Steve Martin), Oliver Putnam (Martin Short) and Mabel Mora (Selena Gomez). However, in the fourth season of “Crime in the Neighborhood”, viewers will also be able to count on the return of another star, Meryl Streep. The actress will continue the role of Loretta Durkin, who joined the series’ heroes in the previous season.

In the third season, we got to know Loretta as an underappreciated, aspiring actress who could shine on stage in Oliver Putnam’s play only in her prime. However, the fact that she is a modest, insecure woman did not exclude her from the group of people suspected of committing murder. Despite the secret she hides and the murder she may have committed, Meryl Streep’s character managed to make Putnam fall in love with her. And this will probably be one of the threads continued in the next, fourth part of the series.

However, the plot is shrouded in mystery for now. What is certain is that lovers of solving mysterious crimes and authors of crime podcasts will have a trip to Los Angeles – informs “Variety”. This is probably where they will meet a powerful businesswoman, whose character will be portrayed by Molly Shannon, who joins the cast. What is also certain is that the characters have once again drawn us into the tangle of suspicions, doubts and secrets that the audience will try to unravel as the plot develops.
