Barbara Rush has died. The Golden Globe winner was 97 years old

Barbara Rush died at the age of 97, and this sad news was conveyed to her by her daughter, Claudia Cowan. In a statement to Fox News, she said:

“My wonderful mother passed away peacefully this evening at 5:28 p.m. I was with her this morning and I know she was waiting for me to come home safely. She chose to leave us on Easter because it was one of her favorite holidays, and now of course “This time will take on a deeper meaning for me and my family.”

The legendary actress appeared in front of the camera for 70 years and appeared alongside the greatest stars of American cinema: Frank Sinatra, Marlon Brando, Dean Martin, Paul Newman and Kirk Douglas.

Her career began when she was noticed by a talent scout after performing at the Pasadena Playhouse. She made her film debut in 1950 in the film “The Goldbergs”.

Her biggest breakthrough came after her role in the science fiction horror film “Space Visitors” in 1953. In 1954, she received a Golden Globe in the “Most Promising Actress” category. She has played in television soap operas for years, and her influence on the history of series is enormous. One of her last roles was in the teen series “7th Heaven”, in which she played the role of grandmother Ruth Camdem.

Her last appearance was in the 2017 short film “Bleeding Hearts: The Arteries of Glenda Bryant,” in which she starred alongside her niece Carolyn Henessy.
