Surprise at the airport in Istanbul
Before I came to Turkey, I read that Istanbul Airport (IST) can be overwhelming in size. It must be admitted that the opinions were not exaggerated. The size of this object makes . That’s probably why I find myself on moving sidewalks in many places, and every now and then an electric vehicle transporting tourists drives past me.
However, you should not be afraid of the airport. A huge advantage is the numerous markings that will prevent you from getting lost. Due to the distance, it may take a lot of time, but we will certainly find the baggage drop point and our gate without any major difficulties. All it takes is a little attention. Finding the food court or toilets will not be a problem. It is worth noting that the information signs will also include a dog symbol, representing pets.
Pets at the airport have their own space
I came across a surprising room by accident. After completing passport control in the departures area, I passed what was described as a “pet relief room”. Colorful pictures of dogs and cats encouraged me to look inside. I have never seen anything like this at any European airport.
What can you find inside? Check before traveling with your pet
It is difficult to assume that an airport space could make four-legged friends feel at home. However, it must be admitted that creating a place dedicated to meeting their most important needs is still a huge step along the way.
Inside there is space for both dogs and cats. Artificial grass and litter boxes appear to help meet the physiological needs of pets. Waste containers and cleaning bags are also available. There are also plenty of scratching posts, which many cats tired from traveling will probably be happy to use.
