Although it might seem that Aleksander Fogiel he had artistic roots, because his cousin was a famous singer Mieczysław Fogg, however, he was born into a family connected with the railway. His father was a railway driver, and Fogiel himself was educated at the Railway Technical School. Additionally, he developed his skills by attending evening courses at the Municipal School of Drawing and Decoration in Warsaw.
He began his stage career in 1928, making his debut on the stage of the Polish Army Theater in Warsaw, where he had previously worked as a set designer. According to FilmPolski.pl, over the years of his activity, Fogiel was the director of five theaters, directed 68 plays, created 38 sets and played 378 theater roles.
His filmography is equally impressive, spanning over 100 roles. He is permanently remembered by viewers as Maćko from Bogdaniec in “Krzyżaki” by Aleksander Ford and as the village head in “Same's own”.
Aleksander Fogiel and his wife Celina Dąbrowska he had two sons: Andrzej, who is now 80, and Waldemar, who is two years younger. Both sons followed in their father's footsteps: Andrzej chose the profession of an actor and singer, while Waldemar specialized in choreography and stage movement direction. Unfortunately, Waldemar's life tragically ended with suicide in October 1976, and the causes of his death at the age of 33 remain unknown to this day.
Aleksander Fogiel kept his affair with the dancer a secret for many years Lucyna Łakomówna, with whom he had a son, Tomasz Fogel, who also followed the acting path. Even after the death of his first wife in 1985, Fogiel did not decide to marry his second partner until the last months of his life.
The actor's grandson is also the continuator of the family tradition. Krzysztof Fogielknown for his roles in television series such as “Radio Romance“, “Bank out of this world” and “Forty-year-old. 20 years later“.
Aleksander Fogiel died on January 17, 1996 and was buried at the Municipal Cemetery in Doły in Łódź, where years later his second wife was also buried.
