AC/DC celebrates 50th anniversary with reissue of legendary albums. A treat for fans

AC/DC is one of the most famous rock bands, whose albums have sold over 200 million (!) copies. This means that they are at the forefront of rock groups in the entire history of music. They gave their first concert on December 31, 1973 at the Checkers nightclub in Sydney, and 50 years after their debut, they prepared a surprise for their loyal fans – they announced the “POWER UP” tour, which will visit the largest European cities this summer.

Additionally, to celebrate AC/DC’s 50th anniversary, Columbia Records and Legacy Recordings announced the reissue of their musical catalog on gold vinyl. Additionally, the discs will include a 12-inch anniversary insert with graphics that can be framed.

The most famous titles from AC/DC will appear first, namely: “Back In Black”, “Highway To Hell”, “The Razors Edge”, “Powerage”, “For Those About To Rock (We Salute You)”, “High Voltage”, “Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap”, “Who “Made Who” and “Live”. Further reissues will be released on the market later this year.

AC/DC is one of the most influential rock bands in music history, with over two hundred million albums sold worldwide. In the United States alone, their albums have sold over 72 million copies. The album “Back In Black” is the best-selling album by any band in history, as well as the third best-selling album by any artist. In 2003, AC/DC were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and in 2010 they received their first Grammy Award for Best Hard Rock Performance.

In their native Australia, they were inducted into the Music Victoria Awards Hall of Fame. They continue to sell out stadiums around the world, sell millions of albums a year, generate billions in streams, and have a legion of devoted fans that grows every year. In 2020, they released their seventeenth album “Power Up”, which debuted at number one in 21 countries.

About reissues:

Plate “High Voltage” was produced by the duo Vanda & Young and was created at Albert Studios in Sydney. Eight of the nine songs are by Angus Young, Malcolm Young and Bon Scott. The song “Can I Sit Next to You Girl” is a composition created only by the Young brothers. Initially, the album was released only in Australia, but only in 1976 did it appear on the international music market, with a changed cover and tracklist. It sold over 3 million copies in the United States alone.

“Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap” this third studio material was released in September 1976 in Europe, Australia and New Zealand. Fans from the United States had to wait until 1981 for the album to be available in American music stores. Due to considerable interest, they managed to debut in third place on the Billboard 200 chart. It includes songs loved by fans such as “Ride On”, “Ain’t No Fun” and the title track “Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap”.

“Powerage” is the fifth studio material they were released in 1978, it was their first album that did not contain the title track. In 2005, Rock Hard magazine included “Powerage” on its list of the 500 best rock and metal albums of all time.

“Highway To Hell” This sixth studio material was released in July 1979. It was their last album featuring vocalist Bon Scott, who died on February 19, 1980. The material was created at Roundhouse Recording Studios in London, the sessions lasted 15 hours a day, for 2 months. It is from this album that one of AC/DC’s greatest hits comes from – the title track “Highway To Hell”.

“Back In Black” This seventh studio material was released in July 1980. After Bon Scott’s death, Brian Johnson joined AC/DC as lead vocalist. It was created for almost 2 months in the Bahamas. “Back In Black” is a classic that was a commercial success and was recognized by music critics. To date, over 50 million copies have been sold, making it one of the best-selling albums of all time. In 2019, it went 25x platinum in the United States.
