Information about the actress's death was published on the Facebook profile of the Association of Polish Stage Artists. “Goodbye Zofia Kucówna – an excellent actress, teacher, book author, and social activist. Today she left her beloved Skolimów, a place close to her heart, to which she gave her time and strength, which she cared for for years, infecting the young generation of her students, leaving us in sadness, regret and reflection,” we read.
“I am very sad today that she is no longer there. It seemed that such people would exist forever. She confirmed with her life what she played on stage. She was as good in Dostoyevsky's text as in helping the actors in Skolimów-Konstancin,” he said PAP about the death of Zofia Kucówna, director Krzysztof Zanussi.
The actress is also remembered by Teresa Lipowska, with whom she had a long-standing friendship. Kucówna had been staying at the Home of Veteran Artists of Polish Stages in Skolimów for a long time. Last Easter, Lipowska went there to meet a friend. However, she was not allowed in.
“She had been feeling bad for a long time. Recently, unfortunately, she didn't even go out to meet people. At Christmas, she came down to share the wafer and we talked. She felt normal then, she didn't complain about anything. Then things happened quickly. Now, at Easter, apparently she's gone. “She was feeling very bad, so her health has recently deteriorated. I even wanted to go up to her room to wish her good wishes, but they told me it was impossible because she doesn't really know anything anymore and she doesn't receive any guests” – she said in an interview with the portal Plotek.pl.
