“New Year's Eve” with TVP will not take place. The Boys leader commented

On New Year's Eve, almost all major Polish television stations invite their viewers to watch a special event. They organize concerts attended by big stars, both from Poland and abroad. The audience has fun to the rhythm of pop and disco polo music. Polish Television every year, since 2016, organizes one of such events – “New Year's Eve Dreams”. It was usually held in Zakopane, but now organizing New Year's Eve in the city will probably be impossible.

Łukasz Filipowicz became the new mayor of Zakopane, winning over 60 percent. votes in the second round of elections. He defeated his opponent Agnieszka Nowak-Gąsienica, who ran for PiS. A few hours after the announcement of the election results, Filipowicz commented on the situation regarding New Year's Eve.

“We need to change the image of Zakopane. There will be no rule of Leszek Dorula in Zakopane, there is no Jacek Kurski in TVP, so there will be no “New Year's Eve of dreams”. However, I am in favor of having an event. I remember perfectly well the times when shop windows on Krupówki were covered with boards for safety reasons. So we need to think about an event on a smaller scale, promoting the region,” said the new mayor of Zakopane.

For years, the event in Zakopane has been criticized by some residents. They were concerned about the fate of animals living in the nearby Tatra National Park. Additionally, there were frequent acts of vandalism during the event, and crowds of drunk people roamed the city streets, disturbing other people.

Band leader Boys commented on the cancellation of “New Year's Eve Dreams” in Zakopane. “Whether it's Zakopane or another city – it's a fish for me. I play where I have an agreement, where people want to have fun. That's what the mayor wanted – I don't know if it's good. This is the only event of the year – people they want to have fun and that's it. Opinions are always divided. For some people the music will be too loud, for others the firecrackers are going off,” he confessed Marcin Miller in an interview with Plejada.

The musician emphasized that he was completely indifferent to the location of New Year's Eve. He doesn't feel attached to performing in Zakopane. “If there is no New Year's Eve in Zakopane, we will party in Chorzów,” he added.
