‘Deadpool and Wolverine’ and the Complicated Timeline: We Explain the Complexities

The latest Deadpool movie will be a huge step towards introducing this character and Wolverine to the Marvel Universe, and therefore it is likely that the immortal superhero will meet the Avengers in the future! The future of the heroes seems to be bright, but their past is not so simple and you can feel lost. So let’s look at the complicated past of Deadpool and Wolverine.

Deadpool and Wolverine are not the first characters associated with the X-Men to appear in films from the Marvel universe. Some time ago we could see Professor X and Daredevil, among others, but the appearance of two flagship characters will open a completely new path for the remaining mutants. However, there is one catch. The characters we will see are not the same heroes we know from previous productions.

Marvel has been exploring the multiverse and alternate realities for a few years now. Wolverine and Deadpool will be no different – attentive viewers have probably noticed bits and pieces of events in the trailers that don’t fit into their adventures so far.

Fans who have been waiting for the continuation of the adventures of the talkative superhero are probably wondering if the adventures we saw in the previous two parts connect somehow with the new film, since now we will see a completely new version of Deadpool.

In earlier productions from the universe “X-Men” Deadpool was transformed into a mute killing machine, completely destroying the image of the babbling, funny and sarcastic killer built in the comics. In the film “Deadpool 2” In the post-credits scene, Wade completely breaks away from his previous performance. Along the way, he visits several different versions of reality, including one with… Ryan Reynolds.

In general, the connections with the “X-Men” are rather loose, and each time travel leads to the creation of further timelines, sort of offshoots that we could see in the movie “Avengers: Endgame”, among others.

Wolverine’s case is much more complicated, as there have been many different versions of Logan over the years, and the X-Men films have often been at odds with each other. So far, we’ve probably seen as many as three different versions of the character. The Deadpool and Wolverine trailer suggests that we’ll soon see a completely new version of Logan. Additionally, in the latest trailer, we could see that Wolverine is not at his best, which indicates that he has probably gone down a slightly different path than his previous alter ego.

Will the mutants known from the earlier “X-Men” films have to move to the timeline known from the Avengers films? What role will Deadpool and the TVA agency known from the “Loki” series play? We will find out soon. The premiere of the film “Deadpool and Wolverine” will debut in cinemas on July 26.
